Limiting the content resolution in a playlist
-
Hi everyone!
First of I really like your software, we've been using it for 4 years already and maybe you even remember me from the crisp chats
Our signage setup is so that we have external people creating content for our screens (via shared playlist). However since our displays are not 4k capable, they sometimes break the playlist by uploading and publishing a 4k file. Then the display will just show white screen instead of the video. Instead of educating people always on the capabilities of our player devices, it would be easier if we could just restricts content resolution for certain playlists so it wouldn't be possible to add 4k content in the first place.
Thanks!

Hello @teamblue, thanks for your feature request.
You’re absolutely right — restricting content resolution on specific playlists is a great idea, and I’m happy to let you know that we’ve actually released this feature! You can find this feature under the Playlist settings, along with a number of other useful options:
https://playsignage.com/support/playlists/#optionsLimit video/image resolution to Full HD [advanced] - Restricts the maximum resolution of images and videos added to a playlist to 1920x1080 (Full HD). This feature is designed for display owners who want to ensure smooth playback and consistent performance across all screens. For example, if your media players are not 4K capable, this option helps avoid adding 4K content that could overwhelm the player.
